Okay... so I haven't been posting to DA at all
Okay... so the reason I haven't posted is because I haven't been taking photos
Okay... so literally any single other thing on my "to do" list takes priority over my photography hobby.
Okay... so we are beyond completely in debt at the moment, having just replaced every single one of the 34 windows in our house, bought a "bargain" car (84 volvo wagon) that ended up needing thousands of dollars in unavoidable repairs, gotten engaged, and started paying for the wedding that is in less than a year.
But I still really would love one of those lenses. Really. Can I beg?
My techie gadgets generally follow some sort of priority heirarchy that has to do with Time Spent On Activity. The ipod happened when I realized I walked at least 5 miles every day and ran another several and it would be all much more interesting with some tunes. The big high quality cutting board happened when I added it up and found out I spent more than 2 hours every day cooking. The new laptop occurred when I realized that I spent 4 out of my roughly 8 hour work day sitting at the computer doing calculation intensive image processing.
Which brings me to images of another sort. Why not jump start my lapse in photography with this amazing incredible lens? Plus, I just started another photography project that will way, way more than cover the cost of the new lens and I keep telling myself that after two years it is time for a good lens. And then I get cheap and just surf the web for more sample photos, never quite clicking the "add to cart" button. Add to cart... add to cart...
Why, might you ask, am I so enamored? Well, my S.O. and I went on a "Pirate Sail" on the Quinnipiac schooner in New Haven. And one of the pirates had a canon, his stock of lenses on hand, and a generous nature. He let me try it out. Excuse me while I drool. Everything that I've read about this lens says it's a great deal for the price and exactly what type of photography I shoot. I considered a wide angle, I considered an image stabilized zoom, and then I kept coming back to this prime lens.
I really can't get it out of my head... I think I'm gunna do it.
Maybe tomorrow.

Still, my 35mm SLR has a 50mm prime on it and I LOVE that thing. . . .
